Dog food changing my dogs behaviour?

Can I be a real bore and remind anyone who's feeding BARF that they really need to do their homework about it? It's easy to end up feeding a pretty unbalanced diet this way, either through ignorance or convenience. There's nothing at all wrong with supplementing complete dog food with raw ingredients but I'm always concerned that a lot of people fall in love with this theory, chuck the complete food and then don't actually provide terribly balanced nutrition for their pets. The reason a lot of these complete foods cost a fortune is because the companies have had to pay nutritionists to do the maths for us! Sorry to be a moan
Would you not advise the BARF diet then? I guess it is easy to forget to balance the dogs diet. I think that's why dry complete food is such an easy time saving way to feed dogs.
Is there any complete dog food you would suggest? Alot of people have been saying James Wellbeloved but the fact it is made by Mars Inc/Pedigree who also makes pedigree chum, frolic etc worries me:heartsmil Proud Weight Watcher :heartsmilStart Weight: 15st 13lb Current Weight: 10st 5lbTotal Loss to Date: 5st 8lb- - -Current 2011 Goal: Lose 8lb by 25th DecemberLoss This Week: -3 Total Loss 2011: -30 -
i feed my 3 dogs eukanuba and they all seem fine on it. i did feed one of them a pedigree chum puppy food when he was younger but it turned him crazy! he would become really hyperactive and aggressive, when i stopped it he calmed down again ( i thought he had rage for a while cause he's a red cocker spaniel) ! ive found that adding extra things to their food (like boiled veg or tinned meat) just makes them more fussy and they expext it all the time. i do hope they aren't getting bored with their meals tho?0

I refuse to use Eukanuba as they test their products on animals - overfeeding, rubbing in their eyes/skin/ears/nose etc etc.
Eukanuba and Iams both do this.:heartsmil Proud Weight Watcher :heartsmilStart Weight: 15st 13lb Current Weight: 10st 5lbTotal Loss to Date: 5st 8lb- - -Current 2011 Goal: Lose 8lb by 25th DecemberLoss This Week: -3 Total Loss 2011: -30 -
if you don't want to feed James Wellbeloved etc cos of ethical reasons then take a look at Burns - similar price range and good dog food - if you go to their site I think they have sample (if not email them I've definitely had samples from them before and a £5 off voucher).
I agree with Eels only do BARF if you know what you're doing and check with your vet too. Personally I can't see how I could do it anywhere near as cheaply as complete food and we've had several big dogs who've all done very well on complete food living to be a good old age with no major health problems. I do have friends who swear by BARF though so each to his/her own.0 -

Burns looks good. I'd have to get the small bite puppy stuff cause my dogs are too small to eat regular sized dog food haha. They're delivery is free too over £21 so that's awesome.:heartsmil Proud Weight Watcher :heartsmilStart Weight: 15st 13lb Current Weight: 10st 5lbTotal Loss to Date: 5st 8lb- - -Current 2011 Goal: Lose 8lb by 25th DecemberLoss This Week: -3 Total Loss 2011: -30 -
Bakers and Frolic are full of colouring and preservatives and I think calling it 'dog food' is a bit of a joke, I much prefer James Well Beloved, Burns or Proplan.0
