My dad swore by banana peel chopped up and thrown round the base of his roses and it must have done something as he seemed to have a never ending supply of cut flowers to give mum for the house :)

I would be tempted to take some cuttings at the same time as you move them and stick them in a slit trench somewhere in the garden.

Is it straightforward taking cuttings, or is there a special way to do it? One of the roses is a gorgeous creamy orange with a beautiful scent, I wouldn't mind more of that one..

Take a straight length of 'branch' about 15-18 inches long as close to the root as you can find making cuts at a slight angle both top and bottom, pinch off the leaves from the bottom third of the cutting then just pop it into the ground up to that point.
They need to be left in the same place for at least a year and it's better if the branch has no side shoots when you plant it, use hormone rooting powder if you have it and make sure that you plant it right way up.

My success rate is about 1 in 3 cuttings.

    Hardwood or semi-ripe cuttings -

Most roses are budded onto a different rootstock so a rooted cutting may not grow as well as the plant it's come from.
