Hole in wall after hitting beam...

So our plasterer/handyman said he'd put a hole in our bathroom wall for me to fit a bathroom extractor fan myself (he had a big drill that I'd have to hire from HSS). Anyway, slight miss-judgement perhaps but he hit a beam on the first attempt... see pic below

Is this a re-plasterboard and skim job? Any advice on how to fill it?

Just cut a piece of plasterboard to size, glue to beam and skim over. Your plasterer/handyman should be able to sort out his error !

He was on a day rate so if I can save myself a buck, I'll do it myself and learn something in the process. Thanks!

Just be ause he's on a day rate, it diesn't mean he should be paid to sort out his mistakes!

If you don't have access to plasterboard, deep hole filler (aka lightweight filler) will do the job quite easily.

Depends on who decided the location as to who's mistake it is.

Also plasterboard needs screwing back to the beam, it'll crack if you don't.
He should have realised the issue when his pilot hole hit timber, I feel it's a problem he should be sorting, not you trying to do it via the net.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
