Electricity Meter Problems / High KW Usage
Comments
-
Electricity monitors are just an indication of how much power you are using. Unless they can measure the voltage as well as the current(- clamp on types can't but plug-in ones can) then you can get big inaccuracies between 8-10% as your mains voltage can vary between 230 and 250 volts - it's not constant.
They are reasonable for resistive loads like, kettles, heaters and lights but not accurate for stuff with motors in like fridges, freezers, washing machines, microwave ovens and stuff.
Just use it to give yourself an idea of what stuff is consuming but don't expect it to be as accurate as your electricity meterNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
