Depends on how nervous you are.
I travel overseas on average once a month, 2-4 times a year to the US and a few times to less developed countries and never carried my phone and wallet in anything but in my pocket.
Pickpocketing happens but it also happens in the UK, arguably an equal amount. Do you use these things here?
The US you probably have more chance of being mugged and if someone has a weapon you'd be a fool to try and deceive them and not give your mobile etc.0 -
Use a money belt for the real stuff and a false wallet with a few old Turkish Lira (millions of them) a couple of dollars etc. If a naughty person comes along give them the false wallet and look upset.Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0

Cargo trousers. They're comfortable, got lots of pockets, zipped and/or velcro.0

Cargo trousers and baggy shorts with low down pockets are the very worst to wear if you want to avoid being pick-pocketed............they are so loose that you dont feel your stuff being stolen.....one person unzips or opens the velcro, waits a couple of seconds to see if you have noticed or felt anything and then steals your wallet/valueables.........PompeyPete wrote: »Cargo trousers. I usually use cargo shorts with zips but the ones I have are pretty knackered now! I was in New York last month for 5 days and bought a "man bag" to carry all the cr*p that needs to be carried. It was perfect for me and felt very secure so they're worth thinking about.
Haven't used it back home, so may be a holiday only accessory!0 -

Exactly. My mate (lives in Croydon) calls it a "mug wallet" and carries one in the UK for this very purpose. Top tip!0 -

Tourist Orlando is not a hotbed of crime.

Keep your valuables in a safe place and only take out with you the money and credit cards you think you'll need.
You might wish to carry a small amount of cash in a separate pocket as mugger money but in all the years I've been in the States I've never seen any crime.0 -
I nearly ended up mugging someone in a gas station in California . A young chap approached me and asked me for a dollar towards his fuel which brassed me off but I put my hand inside my jacked to get a Dollar , at that point he started begging me not to shoot him. Perhaps I have over perfected my anti beggers stare.0

I do tend to use a money belt. Not because of pick pockets; but because of the amount of crap I carry around!
I use this
yeah i don't really think i'm too worried about pickpockets but this wallet seems like a good idea for keeping my phone and stuff dry when at theme parks. I also like the idea of a mugging wallet.2014 wins
