Halifax Current Account Problems. Advice Please!!!

I have a Halifax Cardcash account that I have had since October 2003. I have had some money problems in the past and it was the only account on offer to me at the time. Money problems have been 3 CCJ's which have been fully paid and satisfied since April 2003, 2 are still on my credit record, 1 to come off in August 2005 and one in November 2005. I applied to the Halifax for a full current account in November 2004 and was refused even though I'd banked with them with no problems at all for over a year. I would like to obtain a current account with full facilities. Can anyone advise me of any problems doing this as Halifax have turned me down once!! Are there any banks that would accept me seeing as I have no debt whatsoever and I have had some luck with money over the past year and am now affluent with over £60k in savings and a regular sizeable income being deposited on a monthly basis. I am new to this site and was not sure this was the right forum, so I have posted this in here and the debt forum. Help!!!!

Well being clear of debt is good. Earning good money is good, but those CCJ's are going to hold you back.
Try this: If you have £60k in savings go into Halifax and ask for a savings review, where they will try to screw you to the floor until you buy something from them(Please ignore this at all cost as it may seriously damage your wealth!) but drop into the conversation that you are not happy to do anything savings wise as you do not have a full account. Ask the advisor to go through the 'wide of scheme route' ie phone up head office and actually persuade one of the suits to overide the computer decision. You should take with you the latest copy of your credit files AND certificates of satisfaction showing all debts have been paid.
    Good luck

    Hi

Do you have your 60k and salary paid into the Halifax?

The reason I ask is I've noticed (in my case anyway) that Halifax appear to readily give 'higher' accounts to customers they know and have some relationship with.

I applied for a current account first (refused), so I opened an Halifax Online Web Saver (accepted), have my wages paid directly into the account and savings moved to them, then after 3 weeks I decided to apply (online via my Halifax Control Panel) for a current account (accepted) :D

Now I am going to wait around 3 months before applying for the Halifax Credit Card but already I have been accepted for a storecard (HMV branded STYLE) which I understand is underwritten by RBS (part of Halifax).

    Hope this helps :)

Bank of Scotland is part of the Halifax not Royal Bank of Scotland. The Halifax is now know as Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) :o
