As you are aware, scottish power offer a capped price tariff, which guarentees customers that their prices will not go up until the end of december 2005. however, they used to charge 5p per product per day (a charge to keep prices capped) = £36.50. this figure has now been increased to 6.5p per product per day = £47.45. So for all those people who have signed up to have their prices held, have already incurred a 30% increase.

If they change prices like that would it only apply to new customers on capped tarriffs or old ones as well?

If it applies to old/current capped customers - how do they inform those customers?

i believe that the contract will state something like 'the terms of the contract may change...' but it's useally in the small print and most people do not even the contract. it will apply to all, dependending on contract.

Seems a very vague answer Loon.

You stated an increase yet it seems your not 2 certain whether it affects new / old / or both.

Yes, I assume Loon has got it wrong and this change only affects new customers.

Scottish Power used to charge £1/month extra in standing charges (over its normal charges) for its capped tariff.

They then changed it to £2/month extra for new customers.

If they have changed it again, it will only apply to people signing up now.
