Hello i wa wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction, i was looking to purchase a laptop.
I wanted to spend no more than £700 in total (including a 3 or 5 year waranty).
Wanted to use the laptop for going on the internet, wont be downloading any music or photos. Want a medium or largest screen.
Any help at all would be most appricated! (as i know nothing about computers).
Many thanks for any help provided

Is Dell the best place to go!0 -
warranties don't usually cover accidental damage.
Dell are good value.
a 5 year one would cost nearly the price of a laptop, £200 maybe.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -

I've ordered the Samsung R20 for £599.
2GB RAM
120GB Hard drive
should be quite fun

Check out www.wizmarkcomputers.co.uk for Dell deals. It's usually better finding an out of the box Dell system that does what you want rather than upgrading anything. That's when they can get expensive. I always recommend upgrading the battery though, sometimes it's only £11 dearer for 50% more power which is well worth it. Don't bother with a floppy drive unless you have a specific reason why you need one.0

These 2 sites have Dell laptops with 3 year on site warranties for less money than Dell charge for the same thing:
http://www.mcscom.co.uk/section.php?xSec=51 (prices shown are ex VAT and delivery)
http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?bid=0&cid=299 (prices shown include VAT and delivery)
I'm sure there are others but those are the ones I know.

https://www.dabs.com is the place lots of people recommend for laptops. If you spend over £400 (i think) you buy now pay next April which is pretty good.
I'm planning on getting a laptop too, but often can't see much of a difference between a £400 one and £700 one in terms of spec. Fancy a widescreen one but that would rape the battery and would be slightly less portable. Decisions Decisions.0
