No Paperwork

I'm currently at the stage of going through the financial ombudsman to reclaim PPI. I undertook this without having any paperwork so I know my chances are slim. I had five loans with this bank and all I know are the account numbers and the date of one loan which was still active in 2009/2010 for which the bank are stating they have no paperwork for. I thought that it was only after six years that paperwork was destroyed?

You cannot go through the Financial Ombudsman until you have made a complaint to the Bank and been rejected.
As for the Bank having no details of your account, have you contacted the correct Bank?
If you definitely had PPI then you can send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter which will net you everything the Bank have kept on file for you. It costs £10.0
