Contents insurance - how does it work?

I've just made a claim on my contents insurance for some electrical goods damaged after my TV aerial being struck by lightning.
I've paid the excess and now have the option of also claiming for the repair / replacement of my aerial, covered by the policy.
I know that my premium will be higher next year but does it work that the more you claim the higher next year's premium will be or does it not matter?
Thanks

It varies by insurer.
Some are interested in the value and type of incident (AD, storm, flood, escape of water, theft etc) and others simply want to know the type.
Value of claim tends not to be a large driver, hence some not even asking it, as that is more a proxy of luck where as if you live in an area that has a high burglary rate or not isnt and whilst they may only have gotten the DVD player this time next time they may get the TV, jewelry collection etc0
