This is only the electric though isn't it.
I was without gas for a couple of days, i think it was the winter before last. Will BG follow.

Considering just about every power company supplies gas, and the decision has singularly nothing to do with BG, I would imagine BG are doing the square root of f@ck all about it.

It is not the energy suppliers but the local distribution companies who pay the money, usually through the energy suppliers.

I disagree with this idea of compensation for a power outage in most cases, although if it is the electricity companies fault then fair enough.

Look at earlier this year - people claiming compensation for the power outages caused by flooding, storms etc. I'll never understand how anyone can think that this is the fault of the electricity suppliers and so why compensation should be due from them.

All that this does is remove money that could be spent on improvements from the pot.

I didn't think compensation was ever awarded in situations of force majeure.

Maybe I'm wrong but I'm sure I saw some reports of people complaining that the compensation they were given was not enough and wanting more.

I don't think anyone has ever suggested that energy companies are at fault for extreme weather, although if the same points fail each time there is strong wind or even a mild case of flooding then there is possibly a case that they need to improve those points, it's not as if they don't know this is going to happen and they have put their equipment in vulnerable places and not kept it in good condition, blah blah.. But the issue here, pointed out in the press releases, is that they didn't repair things quickly enough and they didn't keep customers informed. Especially important when these people have to live away from home for, say, 5 days between Christmas and New Year, and they just don't know when their power is back on or even when anyone is going to be depatched to look at it. This is completely down to the energy companies.

This is completely down to the energy companies? The fact the storms were between Christmas and New Year? Huh?

energy companies? This had nothing to do with energy companies, but poor organisation by the two Dno's in question.
