NPower and Buchanan Clark and Wells

Bit of a long story but essentially my son rented a property which he moved out of over 12 months ago. He settled the final power bill with Npower and moved on. They have since handed an alleged debt on to a couple of agencies, the latest of which is Buchanan Clark and Wells who have tracked him to my home address (he doesn't live at home any more). He has actually been in touch with Npower about this matter for the last 3 or 4 months and provided them with proof that he settled the account when he left the property. I have read the threads about Npower and also these fraudsters Buchanan Clark and Wells and I have told my son to respond to them by letter to inform them that my address is only a mailing address (he will not be providing his current address) and that he is in dispute with Npower and therefore they have no authority to act.
Is it worthwhile making a formal complaint to OFGEM about this matter as Npower really don't seem to grasp that this account was paid.

Just one thing -did he actually read the meters on leaving the property and did his original final bill show these readings?
If NPower closed his account on incorrect/estimated readings then the problem MAY have arisen due to a dispute over payments due with the customers who moved into the property after him.0 -
Yes he did but unfortunately he doesn't have them any more but Npower billing should show the date of the meter readings which will correspond with the date he moved out0

Are they chasing for a different amount from the previous final settlement figure?Has he at least got his final bill(s)??
If not, there is a possibility that NPower have rescinded the original final bill and reissued to new final readings as a result of contact from the landlord/new tenants. If so, his readings may have "vanished",although his final payment should be shown.0 -
It's the same amount that he has paid0

Hello hollie.weimeraner,
thank you for your post.
If you can get your son to email me the account details to the address on my profile page I will look into this for him.
Thanks
