In May of this year I purchased travel insurance with pre-existing medical conditions for £54 for both of us covering two weeks to France. I have been trying to purchase insurance for a 3 night mini cruise to Belgium and France and have been quoted extortionate amounts. Do the insurance companies bump the amounts up because it is holiday time?

We don't - and none of the companies we deal with do - however some insurance companies have different rates for cruises compared with more standard holidays. That may be the problem.0

Cruise will be private medical costs where as EU travel is predominately state treatment - medical costs are the biggest risk for insurers0
