Hi, I bought my camera through a few recommendations on this site (by a professional photographer too). Its the Canon A610. I absolutely love it.

The only downside for you would be that it takes batteries but you could always but rechargeables.

It's got loads of really good features on it. This is my first camera and i'm really chuffed with it.

If you do a forum search on Canon A610 or Makro (where I got mine for half price last month) you should be able to find the comments.

    Good luck

I have owned Canon/Nikon/Sony and only Sony (T7) gives me endless hassle. Being a relatively newer player in camera, Sony products look pretty and but not durable at all. I used to be Sony follower, but now I have to admit the Sony quality is going downhill. In a recent consumer poll on digital camera in Japan, Canon leads the big brands while Sony is left far behind.

  • I don't have the technical knowledge as some of the posters above...but I am guessing that you don't either or you wouldn't be asking advice!

I completely agree with johnk - Cannon are far superior cameras and my personal favourite is the IXUS...which Boots are currently doing at half price (I think it's £174.99) add in the Boots points (currently triple points plus 1000 extra if you spend over £50 I think - there's a thread about it somewhere on here) and you are definitely onto a winner.

    Hope this helps!

I have found this Samsung on Boots.com, not sure of quality but for £30 effectively seems a good deal.

Showing up at £54.95 now, not the best value camera for that money.

Just add a cheap item like cotten buds for 55p. 1000 + 750 + Triple points and quidco takes it under £30. As you say not worth the money for the quality.

  • I've used one of those. They're alright I guess, nowt special and would be a perfectly good camera for the majority of people

I think people expect a bit more out of cameras nowadays, compared to the old 35mm film cameras, dunno why but it's been a good way to get people to spend more on cameras

i have an Olympus MJU 750, 5x optical zoom, 7.1 mp, very small and light.
has an internal rechargable battery, i also got 2 spare batteries and an external
charger form ebay for a few pounds, needs xd cards but they are not that expensive.
great camera, batteries do last a long time even when using the flash.
amazon.co.uk are selling it at £170, a little cheaper from the other sellers.
amazon.com have it at $170 if you have a friend stateside who could forward
it on to you or if your planning a trip their soon.
