Can't hurt to phone up and ask.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Are you still paying PPI on the card? If so then I would start by cancelling it.

If you paid PPI on the card and have a case for it being missold then you could try reclaiming it. Being on a reduced repayment plan/having defaulted on a debt doesn't mean you cannot put in a claim.

Presumably you wrote to natwest to ask them to consider freezing interest when you started making reduced payments? Have you tried writing to them recently to ask them to reconsider their decision not to freeze interest? If not it is definitely worth a shot (national debtline website has a sample letter you can use).

My wife had a similar problem with Natwest. She simply called them about PPI and they sent out a form to fill in which she did. Two weeks later she got 3K back for missold PPI which went straight off the debt. Couldn't have been simpler.
