Well they all send a welcome letter to say they are your new supplier to which I imagine a sensible response might be to ring the number given to tell them you dont want a supply and ask your options.
Reading again what the OP said, there's no mention of BG doing this when they changed their procedures. They just assumed the occupier read something about it in the papers. I'm wondering if you took over a property with no gas supply but a meter in situ, whether or not they would send you a welcome pack?0
