Housing benefit help

Hi,
I found myself a little job in April working 1.15hrs per day and this stopped our housing benefit (my husband works part time)
When we went down to the housing office to ask if this was right, they explained that because we had two spare bedrooms, we didnt receive all the housing benefit entitlement.
With this in mind we asked if our entitlement would go up over the summer as our son has returned home from uni,
To cut a long story short, when our son went to uni in 2011, which we informed them about, we lost our family premium but apparently he shouldnt have been taken off as living at home because he only lives away in term time so we should have been entitled to a little more benefit.
Now apparently they have got to re-access the benefit from 2011 and we have an overpayment of £700, not sure how.
Do you know of any one who could help with an appeal please
