Bag security checks and medical supplies

I'm having to carry a backpack full of medical supplies when I'm out now and I'm going to an event where their will be bag checks, is it ok to ask them to wear gloves if they want to do anything more than just open the zip?
There are three bottles of saline in the bag and I know that no drinks are allowed and I'm a bit concerned that they may think that they are drinks even though the bottles are well labeled and sealed.

i think its fairly normal for gloves to be worn when carrying out baf checks.
i would suggest that you contact the events organisers ahead of time to get clarification

I hope it is OK to add my thoughts here ..... tend to be more a 'reader' of the forum than a 'poster'!
I have been to sports events where they search bags. Sometimes the person searching the bag is wearing gloves already and if they are not then I think it is OK to ask them too - maybe you could carry a pair of gloves with you just in case they do not have any?
I've never had my medical supplies inspected that closely - they tend to open the bag/scan it and let me through. I do carry a note from my GP confirming the medical supplies are essential - I tell security this but they have never asked to see it. I have attended events that say no controlled drugs, but when I explain I need the medicine and have a GP letter they let me through.
Once I attended an event with a large group of wheelchair users and the security guards searching the bags were happy for people take in sealed bottled water in order to take medicines, even though the event said no drinks allowed. They even let the nurse who was accompanying us to take in two 1 litre bottles of water!
I hope you enjoy the event0 -
I wouldn't want to do bag checks without gloves, but if they aren't standard issue then having a spare pair handy is a very kindly point.
Sorry to hear a backpack of medical supplies is part of your wardrobe, but the more relaxed "just the hand you're dealt" you can be about it (even budgeting extra time), the easier you make things for both yourself & those whose job it is to worry about what's in the bag.
All the very best!0 -

I have been through many airport security with a backpack full of saline solution, sharps, iv giving sets, powdered drugs in bottles which I make up myself and when I put the bag through security I mention that it is medical supplies and they usually don't even open the bag, I also carry a letter but have never been asked for it. I wouldn't be happy with them not using surgical gloves if checking the contents but I usually have spare pairs available, I have never needed to offer them as they have been disinterested. The same when I have been on a cruise, they seem to trust what you tell them.
Don't worry, just carry a spare set of gloves and ask if they would mind using them as otherwise it carries an infection risk.
Take Care

my husband takes lots of medication including liquids in 1 litre bags for dialysing and as long as you have everything in the original containers and have a drs letter to cover it then there will be no problem. To be honest no one searching has ever made a big deal of it:)0

Even if they wear gloves there is a risk of infection unless they change their gloves for every customer, you don't know what is hiding in other people's bags. If they want to search your bag ensure they wear a new pair of gloves.0

Spot on previous poster, clean gloves are a must and I always have plenty in the pack.
Sorry for the delay in replying, disability is messing my life up as usual and I'm in for further major surgery on Wednesday.0
