Default on my credit report due to tmobiles error

Options
I noticed recently that a default through EE was on my credit report, this account was one I asked to be closed in september 2013(being a sim only 30 day contract this should have been easily cancelable) after the phone it was related to was stolen and therefore I asked the EE to swap the account to pay as you go. The pay as you go sim never turned up and I paid off the last months payment on the account so I assumed it to be closed and all should have been well.

A few months down the line I have a default on my otherwise perfect credit history (being 19, i only have a current account and an isa so no way of gaining much debt ) of 103 pounds debt that shouldnt exist as the account was meant to be closed and for those months obviously with no sim i didnt use any service of theirs.

After speaking to their customer services two weeks ago they informed me that through a mistake on their part this account should not be in default and that I did not owe them the 103 pounds on the report and they properly closed the account.

I checked recently and the default has yet to be removed I have contacted experian about the issue and they are looking into it.
Basically, I was just wondering how long I should wait for a reply off experian before I call up EE again and demand I speak to a manager? And if I should be taking any other action in the mean time.
Thanks in advance for any advice

How where you paying the bill each month? Direct debit? Did you cancel the direct debit?

Contracts are unlikely to last 30 days. Read your small print.

With most 30-day rolling contracts, you only have to give 30 days notice. The service is cancelled 30 days from the date you requested cancellation.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.

Mr silk- by direct debit which I cancelled after I believed the account was closed.
The contract isnt an issue as its now cancelled and customer services agreed it wasnt my fault. Its the not knowing how long it will take ee to correct the default that happened from their error and that I have a poor credit rating which isnt my fault(my apologises for my first post being long winded)

Are you considering trying to get compensation off them? You should. There's far too much besmirching of people's credit worthiness by incompetent companies. It's about time there was some sort of regulation stopping the persistent offenders from reporting to CRAs.
  • I wouldnt mind claiming compensation but I can't afford a solicitor being a student and unemployed, just want EE to fix the mistake they made and apologise really. Experian customer services are looking into it the issue so hoping they ll have good news for me before I take it further to an ombudsman or whoever is the appropriate company to contact.
