Is the free boiler scheme still running?

Hi,

before I spend another hour trying to diffuse a lot of conflicting information maybe someone would be very kind and help me out :)

Basically I'm trying to get the free boiler through the ECO? scheme I'm confident we meet the criteria. I applied on npower but haven't heard anything back so then applied on boilerguide website who phoned back quick and now have an appointment with an assessor from greendeal solutions.

Some people are saying the funding for this has now finished? If that's the case are greendeal expecting us to pay through some kind of interest free grant?

edit: I think the sceme Im applyiong for is actually HHCRO ?

Many many thanks if you can help!!! so many scheme names :o

  • HHCRO is the part of ECO that pays towards the cost of boilers for eligible households.

The boiler may be free but you may have to pay for fitting.

The funding has changing significantly over the past through months and is likely to soon as well.

So it is a bit of a gamble, because when you apply it will depend on the funding available at that time.

As the installers are paid a price per unit of savings fitting the boiler saves the household. This price fluctuates so one week it could be a whole free installation, another you may have to contribute.

Another option is £1000 cashback through the home improvement fund for fitting a boiler and fluie gas heat recovery.

For ECO, HHCRO, and the Home Improvement fund you have to use a registered Green Deal INstaller so if you find a local company they will be able to give you more help .

Well we had som1 round today to check we are eligible which went ok. An assessor coming within 3 weeks.

Apparently you get 6p per carbon tonne emitted (it used to be 15p)

If a boiler is £1200 that's a shed load carbon you have to emit to make up a boiler ??!?!

We are only 2 people in a bungalow though the boiler is very old and decrepped so maybe it will make up most it.

You would have to have a huge savings score to get it for free, you should expect to have to make some sort of contribution.

Yes that's fine, anything up to 50% would easily be worth it. After that I don't think we have that much cash to access for a one off.
