Pothole claim - civil procedure rules breached!!!

Hi all,

In February of this year i hit a mahoosive pothole and sustained a large amount of damage to my car. After I eventually found out who my claim should be lodged with, I made a claim for damages on 23/02/2014 with my local council.

Quite some time passed and over the course of a few months I kept reminding them that I required a decision to be made on my claim. The last email that i received from the council, dated 01/07/2014 stated the following:

"I can confirm that you will receive our decision on liability no later than the 16th July 2014, this is the latest we can get back to you under the Civil Procedure Rules. "

A week has now passed since the 16th and I have still not had a word back. I'm really starting to get tired of this now and I'd like to know what my next action should be - any ideas?

Remind them of their own emails and then maybe small claims court?

Perhaps the Local Government Ombudsman?
