Funding Care Home Fees

My mum recently became a permanent care home resident. We are currently part-way through the 12 week property disregard period. Mum has a house which, when we have carried out some very necessary renovations, will be worth around £100k. In view of the recent passing of the Care Bill, we would like to talk to someone to discuss the best way forward for us as a family. For instance - would it be in our interests to try and fund Mum's care until April 2016 and keep the house? We now have very little time to arrange a Deferred Payment Scheme with the local authority, but don't even know if it is in our best interests to do so.
I just don't know who to talk to about these issues and most of the charity websites seem to give very little relevant information. No-one seems to be giving any advice or helpful information to people in our situation. Can anybody help?
