Hi
I have about 15 years no claims protected bonus but I am selling my car and so wont be renewing my insurance in August. I intend to wait six months - 1 year before buying a new car and during this time I intend to be added to my boyfriends car for occassional use.
Will I lose my no clims bonus?
ie. When I get a new car and go to reinsure will all my no claims be gone? Or can I still use it?
I thought someone will know as it must come up quiet alot for example when people go travelling for a year etc?
Many thanks for assistance

Most insurers allow up to a 2 year break. The Coop allow up to a 3 year break.
If you are talking 6-12 months you should be fine but double check before clicking the buy button0 -
My understanding was that the break has to be a max of two years otherwise you will lose NCD. I asked an insurance company about it a while ago because I spent a year being a named driver on someone's policy but didn't have a car on my own and they said it was fine.
Not sure whether the allowed break is the same for all insurers though, but I suspect 6 months shouldn't be an issue.0 -
