Maternity Allowance Confusion!

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum so please bear with me!

I recently returned to work after having 10 months off for Maternity Leave, I wasn't with my employer long enough to get SMP...I have just found out I have been getting taxed when I shouldn't have! I recieved a nice refund cheque in the post so that problem is sorted, now I'm wondering if MA owe me any money? They were giving me what work had been giving me a month which is less then it should have been due to the tax I had been paying..hope this is making sense so far!

I work 16 hours a week and was getting taxed 20 percent of my wages..would maternity allowance have been working out my MA on my wages before or after tax?

Thankyou in advance :)

MA is based on the Gross figure...so before tax.

Ok thankyou, I'm guessing they don't owe me anything then

    This year £138.18 weekly.
I don't think it's taxable as it is paid by DWP & does not count as income for tax credits.

Were you being paid roughly 90% of your average weekly earnings ?
