Moving problems/questions
Hello!
I have been transferring my duel fuel (gas/elec) from British gas to Npower since Nov 2013. My elec changed with no problems and I am on a elec fixed tariff that ends in Nov 2014, with no exit penalties.
However, there are lots of problems with my IGT and getting my gas changed from BG to Npower (so npower claim). So my supply is split between British gas for my gas supply and my npower for my elec.
My question is, can I change my elec to another supplier? Even though my gas supply is still being changed over.
Then once my gas is changed can I immediately change to a better deal with another supplier or do I have to wait a period of time? This is because the prices have changed since I fixed and I can now get a better deal and as far I understand having both supplies with the same supplier is better.
I would ring npower about this but I don't want to speak to them again!!
Thanks,
Sean

Why not just cancel the gas transfer, and then go ahead and transfer both?0

Is that possible? Im guessing I would ring my "new" provider for that?0

No, ring npower - I agree it's a horrifying thought!0

Hi Seanc
Thanks for your post.
In terms of switching supplier, as there's no issues with the electricity you should be able to switch at any time - as you advise your tariff doesn't carry any exit fees, you won't be penalised for this. You just need to contact your preferred supplier and complete a Sales contract with them. The transfer should currently take around 28 working days (35-40 days).
With regards to your gas, if you can email us using the details on our profile, I'll take a look at the status of the gas account and let you know if the supply is with us, not with us, or "in registration", meaning it's coming to us but an issue with the IGT's data is preventing this from updating correctly. You'll then be able to decide on the best course of action from there.

Thanks for your reply Jess, I spoke to the complaints team at nPower a while ago (I got passed through 2 npower personnel before I got to a person high enough to explain my situation
)
As far as I understand my gas move is "in registration" as the IGT is causing problems.
My question is this, if I cancel the move would another supplier have the same problem as npower?
Thanks,
