First utility : iSave Fixed v16 April 2016

Hi Guys,

Im currently on EDF Blue Promise Sept 2014 and decided to switch to First Utility iSave Fixed v16 April 2016

So im really confused.

My First utility price plan says

Standing Charge pence per day.
Electricity : 1.70
Gas : 2.39

Electricity Unit Rate
pence per KWh : 14.127

Gas Unit Rate
pence per KWh: 4.271

So my questions would be how come the Standing Charge is so low?

At EDF i pay 18p per day for Electricity and 25p per day for GAS.

Am i really missing something obvious?

That just doesnt sounds right.

Hope some of you experts can enlighten me!

Best,

Ebico charge 0p a day standing charge. They're also the dearest energy supplier for most people. You need to take both standing charge and unit rate into question.
  • Thanks for the reply BlueBirdman. Absolutely agree you got to take unit rate into consideration as well.

But Unit rate is cheaper as well.
At EDF for electricity i pay 14.19 per kwh and with new First utility price plan its going to be : 14.127

    and for GAS

at Edf i pay 4.45 per kwh and with first utility its going to be 4.271.

So as you can see its cheaper. But my concern is daily standing charge.

As it just sounds too good to be true! Especially as we all have heard FirstUtility is bit of dodgy supplier!!! So im just try to find out before my switch is complete that im not signing up for something which i should be rather avoiding.

Just check their website and make sure that it's the same when you sign up - you'll have 14 days cooling off period to make sure.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • Signing someone up to a contract at one price and then charging something else is outright fraud; I don't think even FU would try that on! You can rest assured that the price they're offering is what you'll get.

Why is it so cheap? First off, only the big 6 have to pay green levies - their prices will always be higher until this changes. Secondly, I would imagine FU spend very little on customer service given their reviews!
  • I switched to FU about 3 months ago from EDF because of daily charges and I've had a very positive experience so far.

I'm switching from First Utility to EDF due to their awful service. The house I bought was already supplied by FU, so thought - stick with it'll be fine. That was 3 months ago and still nothing yet. Managed to get log in details and when logged in, it was someone else's account!!

Rang up weekly to chase and sort and nothing. Now been told that the account is mine, but it is linked to someone else's details, but as soon as I supply readings and pay it'll all change - so decided to switch to EDF. Brilliant service so far, yes they are couple pence more expensive, but it's worth it not to have the hassles.

FU manually produced a bill and then wouldn't let me pay it because they had no record of me. Then their online billing produced a bill for 4p (for 3 months utilities) and now they're demanding payment! Can't wait to get rid, worst company I've ever had dealings with.
