Advice needed BarclayLoans PPI

Hi There,
This is my first post. I am using a claims company to manage many claims with Barclays. In the last year they have brought at least 15 PPI instances to my attention that I had no idea about! All with Barclays. So far, I have been successful in Overdraft PPI and 2 small loans. My concern is there are 3 large loans that I have had inbetween the small ones and they are saying they cant find the paperwork.

When I started my claim I had no information at all...I am now aware that Barclays have provided account numbers and amounts for these loans (one is for 15,000!) but yet they are saying the paperwork is inconclusive?

I was due a response in March and its now July. They have been stalling since January. As of yet I havent had any correspondance telling me what information the claims company are holding? Is there a time limit on how long Barclays can take to make their decision? Also, I had a claim fail because they said I had claimed previously? Considering I didn't know what PPI was until last year I find this difficult to accept?

Any advice on how I can continue this?

You have employed a claims company to handle
all this for you, so why are you doing all the chasing?

Yet another reason not to use a claims company.

You'll just have to be patient and let the CMC do what you are paying them an exorbitant amount for.

You say you've bought PPI 15 times so far, the Bank says you've claimed on the insurance and yet you say you didn't know what the insurance was for?
  • I have never bought PPI. I wasnt aware of it on any loans, credit cards or overdraft that I have ever had!

Apparently it was included in my Barclays overdraft and i had claimed for it before? I certainly didnt but Barclays are saying i cannot claim again? They have no letters to confirm this but the claims company didnt feel the need to pursue it because there is no paperwork?

    I'm rubbish at money matters!

oh well, never mind. Cant do much about that now.

no different to had you complained directly to Barclays yourself.

technically no. However, you have the right to go to the FOS after 8 weeks. Although that queue is about 18 months. So, putting up with the bank delay is probably better.

If you had a claim on the policy, then it reduces the chances of success on your complaint. For example, you can say you didnt know you had it, or that you were not eligible or didnt need if it paid out. The fact it paid out on the claim means you did. It is still possible to have a successful complaint for other reasons (although the claim payout is deducted from the complaint redress and could end up with zero).

Are you talking about claiming or complaining?

  • My fault...when i say claim i mean COMPLAIN. Barclays stated that i had complained about PPI in 2006 on my overdraft and that they had given me compensation? I have never complained and certainly didnt receive compensation!
  • I wrote to Barclays initially to ask for information on loans, credit cards etc and they said they didn't have any information...therefore i used a claims company to see if they would have more luck.

You've bought it fifteen times! It's a myth sponsored by Claim Companies that PPI was added without the knowledge and permission of customers.

While this doesn't matter on a forum, you need to be carefully clear what you mean when you complain. Perhaps get someone to help you if you struggle with written English..
