Wednesday 23rd July - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

            Hello all,
An early post for me today as school finishes at 12 and we all have lunch (free food!) and drinks and speeches.
Pay day today - excellent
and am feeling positive (need to update my signature).
Today I have/will:
- Lift to and from work
- Breakfast at home, free lunch, dinner from freezer
- Check bank accounts
- Finalise next months budget
- Water herbs (coriander is flowering - not sure if that's good or bad?)
- Get home early (as long as speeches don't overrun)
- Walk dogs
- Relax - have Thursday and Friday off (am full time which is good for my pension!).
Hope you all have a good day x0 -

Morning DFW-Jedis,
Today I really need to stay indoors and catch up with some stuff I've been avoiding. The trouble is the sun is shining alluringly at me! Between us today my OH and I will:
Deep clean the Sitting Room using minimal cleaning products (Stardrops, Baby Bottle Sterilising Tablets, beeswax, hoover, hot water and elbow-grease.
 Eat home-grown potatoes.
Forage for more raspberries in the glen, respecting the plant and other foragers by carefully only taking a few, even though they are very moreish. Didn't get round to this the other day.
Convinced OH to stop using 40 min washing machine cycle and start using the 30 min one. The only difference is one doesn't run an "extra rinse".
Cleaned inexpensive, second hand sofa using bar of soap and warm water.
Do i-Say surveys. If you've never done online surveys before I would recommend i-Say (used to be called "Ipsos".) You get paid in vouchers: you can chose to get paper ones you can spend in the High Street or digital ones that are delivered to your email box almost instantly. At the moment they're giving me about one £10 voucher a month for this.
Washing is out to dry on the whirligig.
Holiday at Home afternoon: watching charity shop DVDs, free spearmint tea from the garden.
Happy Wednesday everyone....Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
            Morning chaps!
Thanks to solvencyseeker for starting us off and ally for the helpful links
Didn't get much overtime yesterday as the network crashed - need to make up for it today. In other horrific news, after thinking I was getting on top of the damp problem in the kitchen I found a MUSHROOM growing out of the wall :eek::eek:
Today's little list:- Bleach kitchen walls!!
 - B/L/D from stores. OH now complaining about lack of snacks but determined not to give in yet. Besides, he hasn't bought any - apparently my job to think of everything  (mustn't grumble...)
 - Remind OH to tidy up shoes in middle of living room (not put away from weekend)
 - Overtime
 - Water veggies (patty pan squashes starting to look good
) - Put bucket into shower for collecting water
 - Charge phone in work
 - Log calories in free app
 - Count seconds until payday!

Have a good one all

Don't feel bad Carrie. We are deep cleaning the house top to bottom just now and have found some right nasties!
*Bedside cabinet had a woodlouse cemetery underneath it.
*OH oiled doors with veg oil as she couldn't locate the WD40. Turned every hinge to mould!
*Dead flies have crawled and died in every corner we can't reach during a normal weekly clean.
And we haven't started the kitchen yet!Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
            :wave:Hello all!
Thanks to solvencyseeker for starting us off and ally for the helpful links- I always find these very usefull. :A
Ally- thanks for reminding me about I-say surveys. I have an account with them and keep getting reminders about surveys but haven't used them / checked my account for ages. At the moment I try to get my Viewsbank account up to £6 so that I cash out- I'm sitting on £5.09 and iching to get it up to payout level. My favourite survey site is Onepoll- its high payout limit but with regular short surveys. :money:
Carrilovesfanta- what a nightmear about your kitchen wall! I can strongly recomend Tesco's brand (not value nor daisy) bleach- its super strong (usually 2 for £1.30) and takes everything off- its the only thing works in my bathroom to remove mildrew from the grout / shower. Hope you get a good result and don't let it get you down. :grouphug: We had mice problem and its was NOT fun
:staradminHad a great moneysaving day yesterday with OH- gone for a long walk on the coast bringing own crisps /coke and resisted the icecream van. Later we had a chinese take-away (£9.20) and watched our own DVD- we love the Lord of the Rings triology and still enjoy it after seeing it many times
. I had budgeted £20 for our day, the remaining £10.80 moved into savings pot.
:staradminB/L from stores- unfortunatly no time for diner tonight- going onto my 2nd job straight from my day job. However, because its catering based I hope to get some 'leftovers' so that I won't need diner once I get home tonight. OH and daughter having YS small mince pie and YS salmon fillet from our bottomless freezer with YS potatoes and a tin of value sweetcorn- other cheap meal day. :T
:staradminLook at what coupons I have and check what needs to be topped-up- I have £3 off £20 shop in Tesco's that I need to use by Sunday and I usually use it to stock up on tins / tootpaste / soft drinks.
That's it for now, hope you all have a good day!

            Hi Ally
Thanks for your great list, just ordered some seeds. Free seeds = free food (my favourite kind!)
Juts wanted to let people know that there are some great offers on magazine subscriptions at the moment here :
https://www.buysubscriptions.com/
You can get 5 issues for £5 and cancell DD before the subscription shoots up. I got Knit Today and Craft Seller that sells for £4.99 each and usually coming with free gifts. I love :heart2:magazines but banned myself from buying any unless a really great offer comes around like this
. I usually keep some magazines back unopened for when I don't have any
(hence me reading winter knitting magazine at present)
So that will be 10 craft magazines with free cover gifts for £10. I'm well happy! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Wanted to share with you that I have just, for the first time ever, paid my full years car insurance in one saving quite a bit as the APR for paying monthly would have been 20.9%!
The mushroom and woodlouse/mould stories have made me smile. The house is clear of such pests atm (I think) but the garden has been overtaken by slugs, snails, ants etc. Still, it could be worse - OH opened the shed door one day and there was a huge rat sitting on the shelf (attracted by a box of grass seed).
Just tried the free seed link and I've missed it
but I may well treat myself to some magazines for the holidays.
Thanks for the top tips!
