There are three roundabouts on route to work. on two of them the outside lane has no markings. Can the driver use the outside lane to go straight?

The outside lane approaching the last roundabout has right turn only which mean for turning right at roundabout only.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

I learned to drive in 81/2 & was taught that no markings with 2 columns was left/straight over & right was for anything after straight over. Single queue no markings, all directions & if there are directing arrows that those musr be followed correctly. However as we know many drivers seem to ignore, these rules, fail to signal & end in accidents that should not happen.

Sounds like someone needs to re-read their Highway Code :)

If the right hand lane is appropriate and unmarked you can use it. If there is regular conflict that could suggest its not appropriate regardless of the markings.

    Signals and position
When taking the first exit to the left, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise
    • signal left and approach in the left-hand lane
    • keep to the left on the roundabout and continue signalling left to leave.
When taking an exit to the right or going full circle, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise
    • signal right and approach in the right-hand lane
    • keep to the right on the roundabout until you need to change lanes to exit the roundabout
    • signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.
When taking any intermediate exit, unless signs or markings indicate otherwise
    • select the appropriate lane on approach to and on the roundabout
    • you should not normally need to signal on approach
    • stay in this lane until you need to alter course to exit the roundabout
    • signal left after you have passed the exit before the one you want.
When there are more than three lanes at the entrance to a roundabout, use the most appropriate lane on approach and through it.
Round here they seem to think the left lane is for turning right

One of the roundabouts has 3 lanes, 2 major lanes on left exit, one minor straight on and minor right. It used to be left & centre left, right straight on and right. Some bright spark in highways decided to change the centre lane to left and straight on. No one indicates so those entering the roundabout from the left are playing russian roulette.

Round here single lane roundabouts are treated as, how many cars fit in the entrance roundabouts. 3 into 1 doesn't go!

It's the same here, i use the same roundabout twice a day going to/from work. The round about has two lanes, there are three exits before 12 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock, I'm cut up at least twice a week by someone using the left hand lane for the 3 o'clock exit. What really bugs me is when a roundabout even has lanes drawn on the road taking you to your exit and people still managed to !!!! it up!

Two approaching the roundabout, one wide lane leaving the roundabout. The lane that exits the roundabout has a arrow saying outer lane traffic merge towards left.

The highway code is very vague, effectively says that unless marked otherwise the first exit should be first lane, last exit should be last lane. Anything in between is "as appropriate".

I am sure that peoples sense is increasingly going out, that or I am becoming a grumpy old man. We have effectively a Y junction but with a very large roundabout. One all exists are technically dual carriage way but in practice one immediately goes down to a single carriage way as its just the access road to a supermarket and small business park.

I swear that half the people who want the last exit/ the supermarket go in lane one and without indicating go round the roundabout nearly taking out those in lane 2 wanting to go into lane 2 of the first exit. When I first moved here 3 years ago it rarely happened.
