Hi all - totally daft question here, but I might as well give it a go...:o
We were given a Wade Teapot collectible as a contribution to a car boot sale - it's the Queen Vic - they seem to go for between 5 and 10 quid on ebay, but the one we have has the wrong lid! From looking on line, it appears we have the lid for the Antique Shop teapot instead.
Oddly, in looking at ebay, I see that apart from the "usual" grey slate design lid, someone is selling it with a lid with a clock face on it... seems odd to me....
Anyone know if Wade collectors are fussy about lids? The mismatch makes it hard to guess a fair price for a boot sale!
Cheers.

All collectors are fussy about lids , but at a car boot you may well find someone who doesn't realise it is wrong and will buy it to hopefully try and turn a profit.
Even with the wrong lid you might get £3-£5 for it depending in your area. Teapots are yet another dead market though, 20 years ago you would have been looking at about £20 for it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Actually looking at completed sales on eBay I think my £3-£5 might be optimistic, they don't seem to sell at all, and when they do it is usually sub £5.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Cheers Soolin. We are going to try to get rid of our household [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] priceless yet surplus belongings this weekend, but I suppose every item can't be a hidden gem!

You are very wise though to check things out first, sometimes it is not the obvious things that are valuable.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Oh, I agree, years ago we printed out an ebay advert for a huge fisher price pirate ship that showed the levels bids had reached, so we did very well with that.
Now I'm just heading off to check out a wee ugly strangely shaped stamp I have found - from British Guinea, a sort of black print on magenta paper with a value of one cent....... it's in a wee packet saying "1861"....:rotfl: I wish!

Well, just home from car boot - given that we were just using it as a de-clutter it wasn't either too great or too bad. Cleared about 35 quid after allowing for admission and Teas etc,.
The weather did NOT help - huge sudden downpour just after opening and then the heavy cloud came back about 4 hours "in".
The Wade teapot went for a fiver, and we sold off some surplus plates, cups and saucers. Kids small toys and kids books did well too.
Obviously we'd have liked more but better the cash in the wallet than stuff in the garage; I think the actual and forecast weather put folk off attending too.
We are now in a quandry about whether or not to go next month. We have quite a lot left, seemingly some at well below ebay prices etc, but on the other hand, if the same buyers turn up, clearly they didn't fancy the stuff today!
Happy hunting/selling to all!
Cheers,
WR0
