Sentinel

On Martins pages I read somewhere that the Card Compensation scheme does not include Sentinel

I rang the CCP and I was told the scheme does not include Sentinel
They told me that`s why I had not received a letter from them.

So, can I claim a refund from Santander who are paying my Sentinel subscriptions sending my own claim letter ?

As per the article, a special case has been made of CCP

For all other similar schemes you'd need to complain to the company that sold you the product highlighting both why you believe it was missold and what redress you want.

If you arent happy with their reply or you dont get one within 8 weeks you can then raise your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for adjudication.

So do I claim from Debenhams the card issuer or Santander the bank ?

Not sure what you mean by this statement:-

    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/CPP-card-protection:
There are other companies out there, such as Sentinel Gold, that sell similar products. Unfortunately, the Financial Conduct Authority has only investigated CPP and the banks it sold through, so these are the only organisations that make up the redress scheme.

The FCA's told us it's not able to say whether it is or isn't investigating any other firms which sell similar products to CPP. So in the meantime, if you do feel like you've been mis-sold, get in contact with the company directly or take your complaint further to the free Financial Ombudsman.

Were you miss-sold Sentential? You suggest you're still paying for it. Why haven't you cancelled it?

As with PPI, these things weren't always miss-sold.

I am trying to sort out the finances of my 90yr old father in law
When he was sold the card instore at Debenhams he was told the Sentinel insurance was mandatory, if not he would be liable for all losses.
Rather worried he agreed the policy
Being 90 he seems to think he has been paying £20 a year for 20 years but the earliest I can find any paperwork dates back to 2007

The Sentinel renewal is not due until Feb 2014 so if I get nowhere I may as well let it run until then
On this policy he has even has points cards such as Tesco Clubcard, Nectar, Argos points, absolutely ridiculous !
It was not an easy matter to convince him the Sentinel policy is worthless and too let me take on trying to recover his past premiums.
So to me he was blatantly mis-sold this policy by instore Debenhams staff.
The Sentinel policy was the tip of the iceberg, I found he had 7 Credit cards in operation, which have all now been cancelled. The only thing he spent on cards was his weekly food bill. He had a Nat West debit card but he didnt know how to use it, so that remained unused
So as you can see, life is not straightforward

The paperwork that came with the card will explain the complaints process, just follow that. Debenhams appear to have their own FCA registration and so it could well be them.

You said you had read the article on this site, that article said the FCA had done an investigation against CCP and because of its findings of wholesale problems it had set up a special process. For any other provider you need to follow the normal complaints process
