Missed payemnts - account in my name but DD in someone else name

Options
Hi,

My dad took out AOL broadband a long time ago so when he switched bank accounts he forgot to change the direct debit. This meant he missed a few months payments. Anyway when the letter arrived to say he had a outstanding balance the letter was in my name (son) as I was the first one to set an email account up when it was installed.

So the AOL account and contact details are in my name (son) but the payment is from my dad's bank account. Will I get the bad credit mark against me or my dad?

Thank you for any help.

The person who is named on the account is responsible for payments, regardless of where the direct debit is set up.

If they do report to the credit reference agencies, then any late markers will be put against your name.

That shouldn't mean the account is in your name. If it's in your name, it's because it's been applied for that way. Which will leave you responsible, so thank your Dad!

Does sound like a little deceit going on.
