Fed up of lawn

I really dislike mowing lawns and employ a chap to come round occasionally to cut it, but he's a little unreliable, so I think it's probbly easier to just get rid and do something else.

At the back is a lawn which is around 6 x 4 metres and is completely flat. My house is on a hill and straight back it is terraced into three parts,, patio type area outside the back door, then the lawn and the garage at the back.

To the side of the house ( I am an end house) is a lawn, which is around 10 - 11 metres long, 5 metres wide, starts flat and then about 4 or so metres in, slope upwareds, with the highest point being the furthest corner from the house. It is bordered by a quite high hedges and so I need access to cut that.

Looking for some low maintenance ideas. I don't aprticularly want artificial grass, it never seems quite right and would cost a lot to do in our garden if I tried to replace all the current lawns, and it is also rather expensive to do.

I also have 5 dogs, all fairly small, but they play havoc with gravel. At the moment they have access to all of the garden, but I am trying to devise a fencing solution, which would prevent them from getting to the lawn at the side of the house.

If anyone has any alternative suggestions, I'd be ever so grateful!:)

TBH getting a more reliable gardener seems the easiest solution!

LOL probably. I actually dislike grass, there is that as well.
