Please help: Looking to book a holiday for 2 adults & 3 Children

Hello We want to take our first holiday abroad as a family of 5 next summer, but unsurprisingly costs seem so high. Kids will be 7, 4 and 2, but for a 2yr old to be charged the same as an adult for all inclusive seems like daylight robbery to me.

We want a reasonably good quality stay, and costs seem to be around £600pp for a 3/4* equiv, in first week of June. Thats £3k. Is that the best we can expect. Really looking for a 4*plus eqiv.

There does not seem to be any kids go free offers either?

Does anyone have any good tips of who to book with to get the best deals for families of 5?

Looking to fly from the North ideally to the Balerics

Any advice would be greatfully received

Thanks

Have you only looked at packages or have you also priced it up separately?
Is this for all inclusive or something less?

Transfers will often bump the price up as they are per person regardless of age. We've just got back from Majorca and taking a cab from the taxi rank at the airport was only £10 more than a prebooked coach transfer with four or five in the party the taxi would have been the cheaper option.

Is this an issue of rooms. Perhaps you would be better with a self catering apartment attached to a hotel, otherwise you might need to pay for two bedrooms?
  • You're looking too early for reasonably priced flights really. That's going to be the first hurdle.

You're probably better off looking at self catered apartments rather than hotels, as there's too many of you to fit into 1 room at 99% of hotels, meaning the prices instantly shoot up.

Jet2 flights are already on sale for june 2015 ~ from manchester for example, friday 29th may for 7 nights, 169 pounds each to palma majorca.
then travelrepublic for your AI hotel, for example the ariel complex in cala d,or, total 919 pounds for 7 nights in a 2~bed apartment.
add transfers (check resorthoppa for example) and say 100 pounds for hold bags and your total price is under 2000 pounds.

Probably cheaper to get a taxi transfer
  • I can recommend the Hipotel Aparthotel Coma Gran in Majorca - Sa Coma. Through Thomson holidays. Showing at £424 pp or£2117.50 for Half-board or £543pp or £2712 for all-inclusive. Includes free child places, flying from Newcastle first week in june. Coach transfer included, which takes 1 hour usually. Hotel refurbished winter 2013/2014. Is a Thomson family hotel so plenty to do for the kids. 200 mtrs from fine sandy beach. Being an aparthotel means you get a small kitchen in your room. Been twice, has very good reviews. Food excellent, went HB first year then AI this year (3rd wk June).

Thanks for all the tips. Plenty to think about. Looks promising
  • Thanks, I went with A jet2holidays package for £2200 for a 4* resort, cheaper than sepearate flights and room bookings!
