Carer's Allowance Entitlement

My partner currently receives PIP (enhanced for both) and she is also in the support group for ESA. We have been told that i may be eligible to apply for Carer's Allowance as I'm her full time carer (over 35 hours a week) however it may affect her ESA claim if she already receives the "severe disability premium". Obviously i don't want to go ahead and claim carer's allowance if we will be no better off as it would be more hassle than its worth. I have looked through her ESA paperwork and it doesn't say anything about a severe disability premium it just lists:

- Living expenses for you and your partner £--
- Extra money because of the disability income guarantee £--
- Extra money because you are in the support group £--

Do any of these count as the "severe disability premium"?

If anyone could help with this query i would be much appreciated!

She won't get the severe disability premium if she lives with you. Unless you receive either daily living component (care) of PIP or mid or high rate care DLA or are registered blind.

None of what you listed above is the severe disability premium.

So as none of what was listed counts as the severe disability premium then does that mean that i could claim carer's allowance without it affecting her benefits?

Yes. Your carers allowance will count as income for income based ESA. (which you and your partner receive) But you get a carers premium on top.
