Switching to another credit card while unemployed

Options
Hi everyone!

Is it possible to switch a balance to a 0% interest (on balance transfers) credit card when you are in-between jobs and have an average credit rating (not blacklisted etc)? I am actively planning on being self-employed and will have a few part-time jobs before that, but currently not working and sick off just being able to do the minimum payments while the interest is growing.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

You can apply, but it's not very likely you will be accepted.

Not only do you have no proper income (nobody will know for how long), you also have the card, that you have cleared, you could run-up a debt again on the card and in a few months time, you might have twice the debt you have now.

Running up another debt is out of the question.
How soon after getting a job would it be "safe" to apply for a new card where I could transfer the balance to?
