Picked up a little work order picking. There usually isn't a way to do this because of the hours but with OH being off work the son & heir can make dinner for the three days and it's fine. Nice timing!
All forms are posted and the cat is injected, teeth checked and claws trimmed for £43. OH & son took him and he behaves much better for them.
Aside from that, just paid some regular bills and travel to the order picking job. It's only £4.50 a day but a fairly long journey.
£8 left in the bank till Thursday. Need to take a fiver out tomorrow but fortunately there's a cash machine in town that still does that. I can always borrow the cash from another account if it has run out.
With order picking you really feel like you did an honest days work. It isn't great pay but the workout is cheaper than a gym membership :rotfl:0 -

It said on the leaflet not to apply for it until he's awarded something
I wasn't sure if it was the case but it was a separate declaration form for him to sign with a one page leaflet to be shown to the carer.
I don't know what the processing time is either, all the online threads seem to be for PIP, which he can't apply for because our postcode hasn't been released for it and it isn't a new claim.
Bit stuck really. I might ring them.0 -
If that's what the leaflet says, hold fire. There is obviously a mechanism to backdate if an award is made. Will do, thanks.0

Well that's that for the order picking, at least now there's a bit of cash to buy the son & heir some stuff for college without it having to come out of the normal money every week.
No money news, none spent and no envelopes of doom through the door either. The yearly bus pass arrived, now to find a way to attach a GPS tracker to it in case it gets lost, that's too much money for such a small object :rotfl:
My back is killing after doing all that unaccustomed lifting. Nice excuse to try and catch up on some beer money sites this weekend, hopefully I'll qualify for some nice lazy surveys and couldn't possibly do the shopping and weeding
I think there will be some cleaning on Monday, need to check over the weekend.0 -
Had to do an Asda order for Monday as there was only £50 for shopping and I'd have to pay for travel to get back from the market, also needed some household stuff.
Not bad at all though because I got an enormous crate of fruit and veg for four hours babysitting today.
10 kilos potatoes (different varieties)
loads of brocolli, 2 kinds of cabbage, cauliflower
turnip
parsnips, loads of carrots
leeks
huge onions
red onions
three kinds of mushrooms, loads of them
courgettes
aubergine
bell peppers
chili peppers
apricots
plums
peaches
apples
tangerines
figs
baby tomatoes
cucumber
big tomatoes
beetroot
fresh garlic
He works on the wholesalers so it's all lush and will last ages. His day on happened to fall on the weekend he has his kids this time around.
Brilliant timing yet again, now I just need to look up what on earth you do with figs :rotfl: I'll see what's freezable as well and use the others first. Treated the son & heir to fake bacon in the Asda order so we can have a fry up tomorrow with the shrooms.
His kids were well behaved as well. Nice little job, I said I was available any time at the weekends, he has an odd shift and might need someone 1-9 am sometimes. Fine by me... not like I have anything better to do and we all love fresh fruit and veg.0 -
Went to the Sunday market to get son & heir stationery supplies. Really cheap if you buy in bulk and he gets through bic biros like he eats them. 50 branded pens for £6 today and the rest of it was stupidly cheap. Paper is so expensive these days.
There was a guy selling huge lots of meat which worked out about a third of supermarket prices, all famous names but the amount we'd have to buy would fill the freezer and we don't eat that much meat so it'd take months to get through. Didn't get it in the end.
Going to make a nice ratatouille with quorn mince tonight and use up the aubergine and courgettes. Still got loads of spaghetti in.
No other money news, although last week I read about uniform washing rebates on MSE and have badgered everyone I know that uses a uniform to send the letters. I filled in the details for three people so far once they found their payslips and none of them have claimed before, so that should be a nice little rebate for them. Will post them tomorrow.
Money saved for other people can count towards my total, right? morally if not in practice
Also spoke to the wholesale guy that I babysat for and said I was more than happy to work for goods.0 -
No money news today, not even any junk mail. I still have a general feeling of doom that this debt-free business can't last long and that there will eventually be an envelope or two with surprise thousands owing to someone or other.
This is related to how close to the edge the money situation is. If there was an emergency fund that wasn't entirely laughable I could at least plan on using that in case of disaster. It'll get there eventually. Plus I have a bad cold/fever and that always makes me less optimistic in general.
Have to renew on the red cross wheelchair soon, it's really useful but a bought one would be so much cheaper long term. I thought there was some cleaning available this morning but no-one rang, but there's no urgent need for cash so it's okay.
I'm going to make the worlds strongest curry tonight using the chili peppers, that should decongest somethingI foresee lots of nice stews and dumplings and comfort soups this week. Thank goodness for that fresh veg crate!
