  • Given how much being able to continue working seems to matter to OH, I'd go for securing the security clearance.

Yes I think so. His current manager is very discreet and doesn't harass him about lengthy bathroom breaks and things so he'd much prefer to stay in this department.

If we can swing this it's only another month of being ridiculously broke and it'd be a big improvement.

Oh well, here's to obsessively turning off plugs and lights and banning the tumble dryer again :j
  • Sorry. I know MSE wise, it probably wasn't what you wanted to hear.

It's for the best security wise though and my main goal is to get us stable. We fly so close to the wind all the time, with a stable job situation and an emergency fund life would be so much easier to deal with.

I must be getting old :D but we've had all the life changes I ever want to deal with already. Two months added on to seven years of no dosh isn't so bad.
  • I wasn't even thinking of the security, more his self worth.

When we were mulling this over OH phoned the DCA to ask for a letter saying it would be full and final settlement, and they've sent a partial settlement letter.

Phoned to say he wasn't going to pay on a partial and they started trying to blag about it. I said he'd need a letter stating it would close the account to any further action and they said they'd send one.

We'll see if they do. OH has all the cards on this, if they're going to be sneaky they won't get anything, I'll just send a standard SB'd letter and they can stuff it.

Then I'll call all the other SB'd DCAs and see if any of them will do a full & final instead. Same result for the security clearance and I wouldn't have to deal with this company. Probably cheaper too, some of them are pretty small amounts now.

No other news. Nothing in nothing out, perfect :D I did get the first job offer from that agency but the hours were exactly what they were told I couldn't do. Turning work down won't leave a good impression, especially at the beginning. I sent a nice email.

Hopefully the warehouse guy will need some babysitting soon, the house is cleaner than it's ever been and it's too wet to garden. Boring.
  • Hello, don't post here often but read your diary and saw that you might need a calculator for your son for college. I went back to school this year to do GCSE maths and had to buy a Casio scientific calculator. I fortunately passed this time at the grand old age of 42  so if you would like it I would happily post it out to you free of charge?

Well that's two good bits of news, offer of a calculator and son's old school wrote to say that the D he got was very high and they'd like to challenge it at their own cost!

If they want to pay then fine, it's unlikely he'd go from a high D to something lower than D.

It was English Lit, which isn't relevant to his needs but I think is very important to the school when they submit to various tables. If it changed to a C that would give him all A-Cs seeing as this is the only D he got.

They sent the letter 2nd class and need it signed by Friday, so now I have to walk up and give it to them, which gives me a bonus four mile walk when I was bored to death. Today's a good day :D
  • Yes no problem at all, please pm me when you know. I'm away for a few days and back on Saturday so I'll check again then and pop in post if he needs it. Glad ur having a good day :j

PS. Yes the maths was challenging but I loved using my brain again and I managed to get a B this time so much better than my previous D grade :D Trouble is now I want to do more studying, biology a level I think next...
