Moved enough furniture back for OH to be comfortable, now just waiting for the cat to be returned.
The cattery charge by the day, not the night, so four days plus the cat taxi is £42. I couldn't take him last night because we couldn't get to his food stuff without moving furniture and by then it was evening.
Then three nights of fast food and ready to eat food because of the same for us. Plus lunch in town for two days as OH was on half days at work. Buses to and taxis from town as well.
The electricians managed to shred two light shades and take a massive chunk out of the mat along with huge dirt marks on every single wall, ceiling and door. I can wash the doors but the walls will all need repainting, at least half will need at least some repapering. The lightshades weren't cheap, I've had them years but can't easily replace them so I'll mention it on the redecorating forms. There's plaster on the curtains which are too big for my washer, so I'll spot clean them first and if that doesn't work they'll need a launderette.
I bought some work clothes from the clearance charity shop, enough to last a good long while. Got a big puffy winter coat for £8 as I was still in my lightweight one. A couple of chunky knitted jumpers from the normal charity shops. About £30 all in all.
Also the big one, saw in a charity shop a double bed, £180 delivered. The mattress is super firm, OH tried it and liked it so we juggled his travel money round and we ordered it! They should deliver today, only now I have to order a collection of the old bed from the council, adding £26. It's all broken and holes in it/springs knackered, no good to anyone else.
I can't remember what make the new one is but it's a big brand and one of their mid range, someone bought it and donated it after having it as an unused guest bed. I might not have gone for it otherwise but it looks brand new.
OH booked afternoons off this week as he thought it might be stressful with the house in chaos and having to sort out meals and kettles and things, I think he was right. At least he's been able to go and put a cheque in to the credit union for that £1000, they aren't set up for random transfers.0 -
The new bed is amazing :j
Paid bills, OH ordered his tablet and I ordered him a wheelchair. After much discussion we went for a slightly heavier one with no additional bits to break. It looks very solid and gets good reviews. Had to order a cushion as well to give it height.
There were plans to go to the theatre but we'll have to wait until the money settles down to see if there's any left over. I haven't done any shopping but will need to soon and I can't be certain what's going out this week.
The council have put their bulky collections prices up again, it's only cheap if you have five items so I'm going to ask around and see if anyone has anything they want putting on the order to make it worthwhile :rotfl: pointless paying that much just to get rid of a bed.
I think I've missed that arranged call from L!nk, will have to phone the 0844 number on Monday if that's the case
eta: the cattery only charged £21 for three days and didn't charge for the cat taxi because we're so near! so that was good news.0 -
I'm glad things seem to be going well at the moment!0

Thanks, black cat! it feels like it at last, well it will when the house is back in some order :rotfl:0

Bought the ecig oils from the Sunday Market, too panicked about large purchases to spend any other money
Fingers crossed I didn't do anything too stupid but until the main computer can be unpacked nothing is 110% certain because of all the juggling that went on at the end of the month.
The kitchen is back to almost normal, as is the bathroom. My room is 75% done, son and heir's 50% done and the living room a poor last with about 20% done. Nobody else cares as long as they have their internet and a bed but I find it quite stressful.
The cat seems to have forgiven us at last, he wasn't even in the pokey for very long.0 -
Looks like I'm in for an argument with the council over some stuff that got broken
Anyway the L!nk payments are sorted out for now, £40 a month standing order and I'll pay off more as and when I can. Ridiculous that they don't have an online portal for payments. It's better to save up a chunk and pay it when they call for a review in six months, that 0844 number will kill the phone bill if I have to phone up to overpay.
Nothing else, slowly putting the house back together but will have to wait for the brother in law for some of it. It'll get done eventually.
And the wheelchair arrived already! so exciting :rotfl: ridiculous but we can go shopping together now and back to the long walks :j0 -
I'm just about okay with the big purchases but now the cat is throwing up everywhere and probably needs to see a vet. If it carries on I'll take him and sign up to the pet club scheme at the same time.
No further with the big furniture yet, as a chronic tidier it's getting frustrating but it will have to be lived with. It'll only get worse when I start repairing the decorating
Son & heir needs to get a move on deciding what he wants for his birthday, it's usually computers or gadgets and you need time to research the best deals on that sort of thing. I'll remind him today.0 -
I hope the cat doesn't eat into the emergency fund too much!0

The vet was £51 (+ £10 taxi) last night and he has to go again tonight. Don't know if he caught something when he was gone or the dust has affected him from the work, but he was ill enough for the vet anyway.
Anyway the steroid shot and antibiotic shot worked and he's eating and drinking a little bit, so as long as he isn't still dehydrated he probably won't need all the tests.
Problem is because of all the bigger purchases this has to temporarily get borrowed from the grocery money and OHs travel money for work. Unless Access to Work get a move on and reimburse him soon it will cause enough of a cashflow problem that the emergency money will have to be used.
At least people jumped at the chance of sticking big stuff in my council pickup, so there's five items there to make it worth the money tomorrow.
A night out is off the menu again but I'd be too tired anyway :rotfl:0 -
£27 + £10 taxi but at least he doesn't need follow up tests and he's doing better. So altogether £98  but I had my passport money and £10 for a SAR request saved so it shouldn't impact anything important.
Bit peed off about my passport though, that bank account will probably be permanently closed by the time I get it updated.
Never mind! no point claiming it on his insurance as he has a pretty hefty excess. They couldn't sign me up for the pet club as it was out of office hours, so I'll do it next time.0
