Entertainment during a hospital stay

I have a relative who has been in hospital a few weeks now but who may be there for a little while longer. Anyone got any bright ideas on how to keep her entertained? She has the hospital TV and watches that but isn't much into films, she has a Nintendo DS and games, an ipad for internet access, books (fiction and puzzle) and a few travel games along with her sewing.

Any other bright ideas that we haven't thought about which might keep someone entertained that can be easily done from bed or a chair?

That lot would keep me busy tbh but if you need more ideas how about an mp3 player with audio books?

    The ubiquitous loom bands?
Other craft kits like rug making etc?

A manicure set and some new polishes. Her nails may be growing a lot, not being worn down by normal activity?
Knitting? A simple pattern and wool plus needles?
    How old is this person?

A Kindle Paperwhite! Easier than carting around piles of books and lots of them available for free. Its incredibly light, the battery lasts for ages before needing charging and because it is backlit you can read in the dark, which could be handy on a ward. I got an email from Amazon yesterday with a code for £20 off (£89 instead of £109) - enter KINDLE4SUN at checkout - valid until end of Tuesday.

If she has an iPad and Internet access she has access to TV, radio, kindle , etc via the ipad so she really has it all ....maybe a pair of really nice comfy headphones to use with it?

It amazes me how many people buy kindles not realizing you can run kindle apps on both iOS and android tablets

Thanks all. Relative is in her 50s and whilst things have been not too bad so far, the prospect of having to spend longer in hospital is not a particularly attractive one as she's used to being busy all the time with either work or the house or garden. So I'm trying to think creatively.

She could try writing a book to send to mills and boon, it would be a laugh and she could ask other patients to add bits lol

    best wishes to her

If she has access to the Internet & she is interested in researching her family tree she can join Ancestry & it will help pass many a boring hour in hospital.

You would be surprised how little time there actually is between all that goes on in a hospital ward especially if there are plenty of visitors, I know my sister used to wish for no visitors so she could find time for a nap in the afternoon.
