Comparison Sites not giving full facts

Options
Finding that with Home and Motor insurance price comparison sites they don't give you the full facts and if you don't read the small print you could be in serious trouble.

The comparison sites show prices but invariably wrong when you go to check them out you will find that some cover is excluded and if you don't go and check them out which is time consuming its you that will pay in the end. Waste of time and getting quite frustrating and time consuming.

This is also true of the utility and broadband sites, they give duff information, in fact even this site gives duff information, look at the EE deal with the Amazon voucher, says its available to 90% of the country well not in my case its not and I live near 3 major towns. They want over £20 a month for the BB with line rental on top!

Line rental is another rip off as its required for BB so the providers know they can up the price as much as they like, PlusNet has just increased theirs by 9% for line rental and 25% for a talk plan, how can they justify that when inflation is not even a quarter of that.

These utilities are getting more and more cunning, giving you a contract hoping you will forget the end date then increasing the cost sometimes more that double, they are all at it quietly stealing your money.

You would think MoneySavingExpert could at least get these things right when promoting deals, if its not available in certain areas they should state that.
Makes the world go around eh...

So you expect MoneySavingExpert to be different despite it being owned by MoneySupermarket?

The majority of people buy insurance on price and so fairly heavy IT investment in being able to not only return price but also features is probably not going to stack up in many companies minds. That said, certainly some aggregators do a number of product features which people can filter on but you are never going to have every single term being represented.

Personally, I also check Defaqto, Which?, Quidco etc and so no site is ever going to be a true one stop shop. I use the aggregators as a way to create a running list and means I only need to check 2-3 companies typically rather than 50+ companies if they didnt exist.

I do think however more should be done in highlighting differences between Aggergator questions and the merchants questions. The fact that Confused.com asks for modifications meaning post manufacture but Admiral/ Bell/ Elephant etc define a modification to include optional extras done when the car was built is wrong when they dont highlight this when you click through. The fact that confused.com and these brands are all owned by the same company makes it even worse.
