Saniflo issues - what about the electrical mechanism?

A lot is said on this forum (and the net in general) about misuse (not putting unsuitable things down the saniflo-ed loo) but what about the system itself? Ours is simply not starting - not when we run a shower, not when we use the sink, and once in 4 times when we flush.
Any idea what the issue might be?

The plumbers are doing the usual where they start sucking the air and suggesting it's too complicated and subsequently quoted £700! Saniflo themselves were soooo unhelpful, they were getting rid of me as soon as they took the call.

The unit is 2 years old and nothing has been put down the toilet. Any suggestions?

PS. out of interest, should something have gone into the loo, would replacing the unit fix the problem?

Not going off (as in not stopping once started), or not going on (as in not starting to pump at all).

Ours once failed to stop, and it was due to a no-return rubber flap being gone.

Could well be the pressure switch is sticking. If you go on to the Saniflo site you can download the fitting/service instructions for your model and there will be an exploded diagram.

I had a similar problem with my Sanichasse (now discontinued). It would start on flush but the motor would not switch off. I took the cover off and located the pressure switch which is under a rubber cover and pushed it a couple of times with my finger to make sure it was moving freely. Re-assembled and re-connected and it worked fine. It is in a room which is rarely used and I think lack of use allowed the switch to jam. I ensure it is flushed at least once a week now and no further problems since it was fixed over 2 years ago.

    Generic drawing here.

Yes, what would have happened is the motor will be seized up as it wasn't able to break whatever was flushed, replacing the unit means removing the blocking item, therefore should work normally.
