Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but I'm also in the same boat. If I wanted to invest in a fund, how would I go about doing it?0

Hargreaves Lansdown (h-l.co.uk) are a financial investment house who offer a great deal of research and information on all kinds of different unit trusts and have a Wealth List of some of the best performing funds in all sectors. If I was a new investor, I'd probably put about £50 into a good UK Equity Income fund, reinvesting the dividends, and £50 into a European or International Growth Fund. And I'd wrap my investment in an ISA to ensure that no tax was payable.0

Hargreaves are great, I am a newbie investor and invested for the first time 5 weeks ago. My fund is up £35 since I put the monies in, and I spread myself over 5 funds in various sectors.
However I'd warn that sometimes the Hargreaves site has out of date info about the funds breakdown, so do check elsewhere before investing. Also Citywire is a good place to read up on the fund managers and who has performed well (no matter which fund they managed).MFW #185

I am finding it hard to find a good UK equity fund and am especially worried about the recent interest rate hikes and how this may affect Uk funds. For now can anyone recommend good investment houses, or if you don't mind mentioning a selection of good funds, I could then do my own research and see what I think and go from there. Many thanks :beer:MFW #185
