jack_pott, whilst not disagreeing with your comments, I would just like to say that my husband did not 'insist' on having a GA. He was not given a choice.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I wonder how they decide? My lower teeth were badly impacted, and the upper ones still hadn't erupted, but they wanted to do it under sedation instead of GA. At the time that sounded quite daunting, but I've had two colonoscopies and a DC cardioversion under sedation since then, so I probably wouldn't baulk at it now. Conscious sedation is quite odd, I can remember yelling in pain, and the calming voices, but not the pain itself.

Have you been to a chiropractor? Might be worth a visit, I went with a bad neck but in relieving that pain my migraines got significantly better as well. There is anecdotal evidence that it can help some cases of TN also.

    I'd second that. :)

OP, hope your husband continues to get better.

Like an earlier poster, I had all my wisdom teeth out as a teenager (but that didn't sort my crooked teeth, thanks to an uncaring dentist) and don't remember any pain. However, earlier this year I had to have a back molar removed, as it was disintegrating and the socket was painful for days. I am 65 , so perhaps it is connected to age.

I 'third' the chiropractor suggestion. And here's a link to a story I read this week about a chiropractor and TN.

    http://issuu.com/thejungledrums/docs/week_177

It's on page 6 of the paper.

WARNING ANIMAL LOVERS - There is also an unpleasant story about cats on the same page.
