This was one of the sites i found but there were others saying the same stuff. I can see there are a lot of good reviews too but anyone can leave a review good or bad and i'm not sure what to believe now.
Why is this card not mentioned in the top cards for spending overseas on the main mse page? If it's so good why is Martin not advising people to get it?0 -

So what exactly, in your own words, are the 'bad reviews' saying? Having to verify your account??
How many negative reviews compared to the positive? Have you seen any bad reviews for it posted here?
What exactly do you want us to tell you?
That the main MSE page is the font of good knowledge?
Seriously....Kalixa Pay
Open with perhaps £50 and when it is up and running, you can transfer more if needed.....or just find a card with only positive reviews...0 -
Not just having to verify the account, that i would expect, but to have to be faxing copies of all the credit/debit cards i plan to use for top ups and passport ect is a bit of a pain. There were reviews on other sites where people were saying they had purchased a card and had not received it.
I haven't seen any bad reviews on here but i haven't seen ANY reviews at all!!!!
I don't think mse "is the font of all knowledge" but this card looks to be very good and i find it odd that it isn't on the site as it is clearly cheaper than some that are.
I am not looking for a card with only positive reviews but when dealing with a company i have never heard of and there is limited info about i like to be a bit cautious.
I was simply asking the OP who has recently bought one how he/she was getting on and what their experience was!!!!???
You seem very defensive, do you work for kalixa????0 -
If you have enough time I would highly recommend getting a credit card / current acc. with debit card which has perfect exchange rates and no fees. The prepaid cards are a middle ground between the worst (normal plastic) spending cards and best (see guide (Halifax clarity)).
but the disadvantages are single currency or limited currencies use - some only work in Europe, some only USA, some both but know where else.0 -
I only have 3 weeks before a trip to Mexico. My current account is with RBS and fees are quite high. I can't get a prepaid card in peso so am trying to work out which one charges the least for cross currency transactions. Fairfx is 1.4%.
The Kalixa card looks amazing, and i'm getting the "too good to be true" feeling. I can't see where they would make any money when they are offering an exchange rate higher than everywhere else and no fees at all. Even with the £6.95 purchase cost.0 -

Have noted that the £6.95 waiver in post #13 has expired. Sending you a PM.
Take a look through my posting history for the best way to use the card or user PeteDoff for recent experience.0 -

What about the £500 that she has to pay in every month? How do you know that she will get the card 'in time'?0 -
Thanks for the info but i don't want to change my current account purely for a 2 week holiday.
I would like to be able to say thanks for the pm you sent Nifty but it was actually pretty rude. Very odd to be so rude when you were trying to persuade me to buy the kalixa card.
I can assure you there was no need to tell me not to bother replying to the pm, as believe it or not i have no desire to chat to you either.0
