Liquids in hand baggage issue - Ryanair

Ah How to get to EMA from Nottingham Railway station.


2 Choices.
1 Train to East Midlands Parkway and then taxi.


2 Walk down the street to the Broadmarsh bus station and catch the Skylink bus ( takes about 1 hour as goes round the villages).


Or I guess third choice taxi from the railway station rank.

Seriously what do people take with them that is more than 1L and won't fit in a bag - I always manage to fit my toiletries in 1 bag.


Suncream (100ml Ambre Solaire)
Foundation (Prob 50 - 100ML)
Mascara
Primer
moisturiser
Shower Gel (Depending on where I am going - as lots of hotels have these, or if staying with family don't need)
Shampoo (As Above)
Nail Polish
Concealer
Lip gloss/Vaseline etc
Maybe bring a few other bits and pieces too depending on space

I was told at Stansted this summer that my plastic bag was too big and had to put all the liquids into one of their smaller bags. They all fitted so I didn't really understand why it was an issue. Only happened once before and that was at Heathrow. Most times no one cares at UK security and never at any US or Canadian airport. Bags are clear, self sealing and not huge . It's all a bit petty. It happens rarely enough that I've continued to use my bigger bag stock and put up with having to decant occasionally .

If I'm going for a few days away, I use the little round flat containers that you can get in the pound shop in the "variety pack" of travel size containers. They are a bit like contact lens cases.

I decant foundation, and fave moisturiser and toothpaste into them. It's always enough for several days. I take nothing else except lippy and roll on deodorant. If not going to an hotel, I buy fruity shampoo of some sort there, and combine it as a shower gel. It won't kill me for a few days.

Most of us using hand luggage only are going to places in Europe, not Outer Mongolia, or the Gobi Desert, do you can buy anything you need at destination.

I think we bring far too much with us. But I've learned to trim it down to the bare essentials now.

As for the "liquids", I have plenty of small containers of varying size (over the years I've ended up with quite a few small bottles an jars from free samples!) to decant the amount of stuff I'll need into. Never had a problem getting that to fit in the clear bag.

Really?! I travel fairly extensively and have yet to come across ANY airport that has charged for a plastic bag which is a requirement to get through security. Thats not to say they wont, but i'd be very suprised at being charged in any UK airport. Like a few posters, i usually have my items pre-bagged but using the airports bags, yet to have an issue.
Also instead of buying them, take a few extra at the airport!!

I think East Midlands charge, if I remember correctly they have a slot machine selling them just before security.

Fifeken & grumplestiltskin - Wow! Thats daylight robbery...in that case DEFINATELY take a few extra when travelling through Gatwick or LHR!:D
Then again, i seem to only travel through BAA owned airports going from that article!

Yet to see them charged outside the UK but time will tell!
