First Time Credit Card - Tesco?

I thought i'd post here for any advice in the minefield of Credit Cards, as we are newbies to credit
We would like a card that we can pay off 'in full!' at the end of each month so as not to incurr any penalties or charges, but have been told we are missing out by not using one (in the right way) and just sticking to our debit card.
The Tesco card is looking appealing, as we shop there, buy petrol, have deliveries, from them etc so would earn the Clubcard points?
Any thoughts on this as we would use this for all shopping, food, fuel, clothing (not at Tesco) etc
Or are there better cards out there for this, if we always decide to pay off in the same month?
Thanks for any help

Unless you convert the points to deals/vouchers, I think there are better options around:
However, depending on your credit history, it can be difficult to get the best card(s) as your first CC. The above MSE articles have a link to a soft 'eligibility checker'.0
