credit score question ??

Options
hi

i am basically after some advice? i have checked my credit score on creditexpert, Equifax , noddle this morning and i am a little confused.

On Experian my score is 998 and showing one default ( what i know about)

Equifax has the same details showing the 1 default i have and a score of 371 (fair)

Noodle is showing 2/5 ?? but showing 2 defaults for a credit card i had but experian is not showing the card at all and equifax showing settled with no default ??

any ideas why everything is totally different ?

Ignore the credit scores, they're not seen by anybody except you and they don't mean anything. They're also wholly inaccurate - the fact that you have been given an almost-perfect score by Experian when you have a default shows this.

What is your recollection of how the credit card account was closed, did you default or not? Do you still have any paperwork? If not, you could write to the lender asking them to confirm how the account was conducted and then send that to Callcredit/Noddle and ask them to correct it.

Not all lenders report to all 3 CRA's, some may not even report to 1 and on the flip side lenders might only check 1 of the CRA, some might check 2 and some might check 3 (im sure there is a list on the forums of which CRA's lenders check ). The actual score eg the 2/5, 371 and 998 are meaningless, lenders dont even see them scores so dont base the possibility of offering you a loan on the scores. What matters is whats on your report and if its correct.

what i dont understand i have 2 credit cards both with 1k limits and i have 100 each on there and i pay them off each month. I have a default from 4 years ago from orange as they tried to rip me off and i refused to pay.6 months ago i had taken a barclaycard out with my bank as they offered it me and had my capital one card for 4 years and never missed any payments. What would you suggest for me to do as i am looking to get a mortgage in the next 6 months

What dodnt you understand about your 2 cards, An older default and a Barclaycard?

What would i suggest. Sort the deafult out and ignore made up credit scores from companies that dont lend you money.

It's almost like there are no threads on the front page of this forum where other people have been advised that credit scores don't exist and are a made up number...

If you intend to apply for a mortgage then it is quite likely that a potential mortgage lender will perform a search of all 3 agency files.

So will see anything that appears on any of them at that time.
If any of the credit reference agencies is reporting something that is inaccurate and detrimental then it would make sense to try to get it corrected.
Obviously if they are reporting something inaccurate but positive then I would leave it as is.

If you don't think you defaulted on one of the cards but it shows on callcredit that you did then I would suggest getting in touch with the lender and requesting that they correct the information on file. If you did default then obviously that won't work.

If any of your debts/defaults are showing as unpaid then the chance of getting a mortgage with them on file is near zero.
