Flea Treament - Dogs

Just thought I would share some positive experience on the flea treatment front (the dog's not mine)
I found "Bravecto" to be very very effective - I noticed my dog stopped the constant scratches in less than 4 hours! The tablet is flavoured so there was not problem with feeding him quite a sizeable tablet in 1 go.
It cost £31 at the vet (for 3 months protection via 1 tablet).
In combination with this I also used RIP Fleas Extra (there are a number of similar named products) but I got the one made by Dechra. such as this:
http://www.vetuk.co.uk/flea-treatments-household-flea-sprays-c-3_419/r-iflea-extra-600ml-can-p-1504
After less than 1 week, the problem seems under control in the rest of the house (although flea treatment is a on going cycle as they hatch out)
I found off the shelf stuff basically a total waste of monies, and the prescription only Frontline Combo a dead loss.
I realise that animals/peoples take different to different medicines and its a personal thing - but hopefully if you have been suffering from a flea infestation then the cheap stuff is (in some cases) money down the drain... and this posting may help you out regarding how I managed to solve the problem.

I must admit I've used other products which have been mentioned on other 'flea' threads (as well as doing my own online research) which are cheaper than those mentioned.
Of course, I'm also a cynic and reader of other boards on MSE ............2014 Target;

Another thumbs up for Bravecto.
This year, the back of the neck drops have been ineffective for my dog, even though we have been using it monthly. (and also used a household spray for carpets, skirting boards etc.)
Gave him a chewable Bravecto tablet yesterday, and he is flea free today.
The instruction leaflet stated adverse reactions may cause mild diarrhoea, vomiting, inappetence and drooling. I was slightly worried as my dog has a sensitive stomach but my dog has had no reactions.0
