No change in fuel prices

It's funny that when oil prices go up on the world markets, so do the prices at the pumps.

In the last month, Oil prices on the world markets have dropped by 10% and the £ is stronger against the dollar which added together should mean lower forecourt prices.

Anyone seen a drop? I haven't and I would like to think we should see the savings passed on....

But the fuel you buy today reflects the price they paid for it. You would usually see a slight decrease in price in the coming weeks.

The prices may also be driven by the cost of other stations in your area. Usually once one drops the price a few pence the others will follow suit.

Also the petrol companies are out there to make money, not satisfy our pockets.

Drop yes this week drop of 1p+ compared to last week .
    Diesel 131.7 last week 132.9 .
A lot depends upon how when and where you buy . I know where my normal routes cheapest stations are and fill only at best price .Within 5 miles price varies from 131.7 to 139.9 .

Dont worry i'm sure there'll be a big write up on MSE when Tesco and ASDA start another "supermarket price war" and drop their prices by a penny a litre.

Of course there will be a big write up when they drop the price by 1p a litre, you'll know its coming when they put the price up by a penny.

Is that the same tactic when they put it up a few pence before they run the 5p off a litre when you spend £40 scheme?

We have 2 supermarkets, 1 Texaco and one independent. All are within 1p of each other. I tend to stick with Texaco for quality.

Maybe everyone is just profiting from the summer holiday demand?

The vast majority of the pump price is tax and refining costs: the crude price is barely a third of the total.

We had a 0.7p drop on Monday two weeks ago and a 0.8p drop on Monday last week, bringing it down to 68.5p/L for the '95 stuff. No change today, though.

So some countries are getting cheaper fuel, at least. Maybe it's not the petrol companies but the UK government increasing the tax?
Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.

Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
